    Burner's not a strong candidate?

    Let's look at the facts

    1. She has raised more money than any Congressional candidate ever has in WA history - Democrat or Republican.
    2. She had over 2,000 volunteers engaged in her last campaign - I was one of them.
    3. She has the record for the closest margin of any Democrat in the old WA 8, the highest number of votes cast for her.

How does that not make someone a strong candidate?

but would she be the strongest candidate?  The woman who ran in 2010 came as close, in a much tougher year.

I changed by not changing at all, small town predicts my fate, perhaps that's what no one wants to see. -6.38, -4.15

"3. She has the record for the closest margin of any Democrat in the old WA "

yes in 2006 this might be true, but in 2008, she gave Reichert the largest margin of his electoral career in the district. This was after Darcy had almost every star lined up in her favor, money, grassroots volunteers, presidential turnout, and the worst year for republicans since the watergate. This is all in addition to internal polling from both democrats and republicans in 2008 showing this race even. Personally her performance given all these factors is a little concerning. It would be one thing if 2008 was a near miss for Darcy, 49%+ but the margin seems to be a bit below generic dem perfomance.

If Burner was willing to change her style a little bit maybe it would be a different. However, she has not indicated she will change in any way. Over the summer she called Obama a republican on twitter and then implied people shouldnt donate to his campaign again. Then she refused to offer an explanation for these comments. I then brought up the idea  of Darcy coming onto DKE and talking about her campaign here like Sue Thorn did. I went as far as messaging her personally and no response. To be honest, Im not surprised because its apparent she is only interested in talking on the part of this site where everybody throw compliments at her, not DKE where she will be judged in a more neutral light. This is the exact same way she ran her campaign and thus Ive come to the conclusion that she is more interested in making noise then actually winning the election.

46.7%, 48.69%, 47.22%, 48%.  Even if you ignore the differences in the national elections in those years--which I think is wrong to do--then is Burner's strength as a candidate supposed to be evident in the fact that she got less than one percent more than DelBene and less than two percent more than Ross?

If you are looking comparatively, then I don't think it's much of a comparison at all: Burner had the national political climate working in her favor, and she only slightly improved on the previous candidate, and didn't improve at all on the following candidate.

She is obviously a good fundraiser, but that's not what I was evaluating her on.
