  •  Lots of food carts are located near my office (10+ / 0-)

In Portland, OR. Among the various ethnic carts is a pretty good teriyaki one run by a Korean couple. As you  might expect, some of Portland's numerous homeless people frequent the area, hoping to get some spare change or maybe a meal.

Late afternoon one day, I was walking back to my office after a meeting, cutting through the lot behind the food carts. I observed the Korean woman at the back door of her cart, smiling and handing a box that most likely contained her signature dish of chicken, rice, gyoza, and salad to one of the homeless men who wore what appeared to be old blankets over his clothes.

I always make sure I give her a good tip when I decide to have their teriyaki.
