  •  I also think that this is a strategical mistake... (8+ / 0-)

By forcing the GAB's hand by requiring it to review the petitions, the Republicans are surrendering their prime bullshit narrative that there were so many fraudulent signatures that made up a large part of the 540,000+ needed to recall Walker...There are still going to be way more than the required amount certified and now they don't have that argument...dumb propaganda move...

reviewers would be to challenge every signature and hopelessly tie up the process as much as possible.

I get the part about getting to play by his own rules, what am I missing?

      •  You're missing a lot (0+ / 0-)

There are a few types of signatures that will be challenged:

        1) Obviously fraudulent signatures - Donald Duck, Hitler, etc
        2) Ineligible signatures - People who weren't legally eligible to sign - out of state, felons, wrong address, etc
        3) Right name, right address, person didn't really sign. This is the "I know where a friend lives and signed the recall on their behalf" scenario.

Prior to this ruling, the burden was on the incumbent to challenge all of these. Now, #1 will be handled by the GAB and some of #2 will be as well leaving incumbents to spend their time on the rest of #2 and #3. Don't forget, Bugs Bunny signed a petition to recall Democrat Jim Holperin so both sides have been fraudulent and would have been helped by this.

        •  The GAB should be able to hire more people, (0+ / 0-)

although I think that anyone who wants to should be able to apply. I think it is discrimination to say that people who contribute to a political campaign cannot work at  the GAB.
