And that is still to this day my biggest misgiving about moving from SSP to Daily Kos. The comments and commenters are much more harsh to non-orthodox liberalism. It's annoying, as I have been called everything from a homophobe to a racist to a Republican here simply because I am not 100% in line with what some readers would like. This sort of activity did not exist before May. But what can you do, right?

Ok, so I read the polls.

As a former Republican, there are a few issues where I disagree with most here. As an example, I'm not fond of having bi-lingual ballots (especially in languages other than Spanish, and only that because Puerto Ricans are citizens); I've seen others slammed as vile racists for that. So ... welcome to the club!

Maybe not on this issue, but on others that come up often, I tend to get a sense there are more non-liberals on this site than people may think.  It's not a big number, but its definitely present.  I find it pretty easy to figure out and can just word comments differently than I might otherwise, but that's my choice.

In the end, the world seems to think that center-liberal Republicans and center-right Democrats have died off, which is true if you look at Congress and such.  But the people with these attitudes exist in decent sized numbers still, even on the Internet.

And I feel your pain!  I am regularly called a troll, this despite my four digit user ID and extensive posting history.
