    I teach high school English and I confront race and class directly as well with critical thinking. We read and discussed James Baldwin's essay "Stranger in the Village" last week, one of the finest examinations of the origins and nature of white supremacy I have ever read.

    You might be interested in this diary I did recently on cultural proficiency. This a more more effective approach to cultural issues than perpetuating stereotypes as Payne seems to do.
