    so they don't look at all.  It is odd walking into a public place with someone in a wheelchair.  It feels like the red seas parting, but it is really everyone in the store looking somewhere else.  We walk in a perpetual blind spot in the store.

    So, it is better to look.  You look at people, make eye contact, smile, say hi and go about your business.

    It reminds me of this man standing in front of us in line.  My sister was about three (making this about 27 years!) and this man was missing an arm.  Everyone was busy not looking while my sister walked up and said, "Hey Mister, what happened to your arm?"

    He seemed happy to answer her question, probably because she was the only one honest enough to show she noticed him.
