    Swipe Fee Legislation earlier this session is a lobbyist's dream.  Both sides, the entertainment and media industry and technology companies are pumping big money into this....and in all honesty the fact Chris Dodd was made MPAA's lead lobbyist tells me this was somewhat planned in coming.

        Represented Connecticut for decades.  Thing people don't realize (but thankfully are starting to) is that donors have a much more powerful sway on policy decisions than voters think.  This is a classic example of it, which is why you have Democrats/Republicans supporting SOPA and Democrats/Republicans against SOPA.  It's much more of a support your donors position than a statement of political ideology.
