  •  frame it as a test for the truly business-minded: (4+ / 0-)

IF the present crop of elected officials is really serious about "encouraging a good business climate," they will necessarily take steps that will encourage the formation of new businesses and encourage a thriving and diverse marketplace.

In which case they are obligated to pass the legislation.

If they don't, then it's clear they are engaged in "cronyism."

So there's a carrot and a stick to use on them: are they truly business-minded?, or only crony-minded?

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

    •  yes, that's a great frame (3+ / 0-)

one could also add that by doing your business responsibly and sustainably you are doing a lot to promote your brand and ultimately attract more loyal customers. I think Patagonia is a great example of a company that grew and thrived because it was doing right by people and environment. (and having a great product that lasts a lifetime)
