the Obama "Romneycare" reform.  It mandates individuals buy private health insurance, but even that isn't enough of a gift to the insurance industry! The government also promises to pay healthcare costs for the sickest of the sick.

This is a shining example of the very same philosophy established by the Bush administration when they bailed out - no strings attached - the reckless financial industry that brought the world economy to the brink:  socialized risk with privatized profits.

I'm disgusted with myself for having fallen for Obama.  For whatever reason, he services the same elites as Bush did and Romney promises to.  I've run through endless explanations, some blame Obama, some leave him at the mercy of those who really control the government.  Whatever the explanation, it leaves me with the same conclusion:  Obama doesn't have what it takes to lead America out of its servitude to the financial and dinosaur energy sectors.

    •  "Fallen for Obama" -- McCain would have been (5+ / 0-)

better?  What other choice than Obama was there then, and is there now?
      I'm still an Obama supporter.

      1.  All Americans that can afford to should be required to pay for some health insurance.  And I'm willing to pay taxes to help those that cannot.  Other parts of the plan kick in when Presidents "Mutual of Omaha" Nelson and Joe "the Hartford" Lieberman allowed them to.  (Who writes bill again?)

      2.  I'm willing to pay taxes to help cover the very sick.

      •  Disagree with your framing (0+ / 0-)

The mandate requires all Americans who can afford it to pay private insurance companies.  Compared to a government run program like Medicare, private insurance companies waste more on administrative costs, and they take a huge cut in the form of profits.  Why should Americans be forced to pad the profits of private corporations?

I am also willing to pay higher taxes for health care, but Romneycare in effect has us paying taxes to cover health care for the "uninsurable" people who need health care the most.  The result is a taxpayer funded guarantee of fat profits for the insurance industry.

As for the previous reply, framing my criticisms of Romneycare as an assertion that McCain would have been "better" than Obama barely merits a response.  What is notable is neither of the replies addressed the real issue as I stated it.  Americans are being forced to subsidize an inefficient health insurance industry which prioritizes profits over quality health care.
