I am thinking of the anti Muslim training that was given to FBI Agents. I wonder if the same thing is happening in today’s military.

But I also have to temper that with memories of my own training at Ft. Benning in the mid sixties. The NVA and the Viet Cong were certainly disparaged and dehumanized.

There is a very fine line when it comes to training soldiers for combat. They must be taught and convinced to fight and kill; and they must be trained to stop on a dime when the fight is over despite the adrenaline flowing in the blood.

What these Marines did was wrong. No ifs, ands or buts. But let’s not tar the entire chain of command before the investigation even starts. I have commanded troops and can attest to the amazing things they can do under fire. I can also tell you that at other times some of them do the stupidest things.

Hey dumb dumbs, if tax cuts created jobs, we would have so many jobs that we would glady let the illegals come in.

They are opening an investigation to be lead by a three-star general and it includes training.

Waldhauser appointed a three-star general, Steven Hummer, to lead the internal Marine Corps investigation. The probe will look into the question of what prompted the four Marines' behavior, said one officer, speaking on condition of anonymity in order to discuss an internal matter. That will include examining whether the Corps' current training and education on the laws of warfare are adequate, the officer said.

That's the kind of accountability I would hope for in the Corps, said this daughter of a proud Marine (M Gy Sgt, WWII, Korean Conflict)
