  •  I care for ferals and have in home cats (10+ / 0-)

I'm a true crazy cat lady and fortunately mr.u loves them, too. Every once in a while one of the ferals or a drop off makes their way in and I know what you are dealing with. There is always a big "to do" when new cats meet each other.

Is the new boy neutered? That can make a huge difference in the way he behaves, it sounds like he's claiming territory. You are doing one thing that will help and that is gradually letting your innies get used to the sight and smell of the new cat on the block. Familiarity can breed acceptance.

I have a couple of cats that wander in and out depending on the weather and over time it's become no biggie. The key was making sure they were fixed asap. Your momma cat might be the one to try to find a home for if you can deal with it. Some cats become pariahs and never get accepted, when that happens they are far better off in a one cat home or as the first cat in a home.

    Good luck.
