  •  As a type I diabetic, I find this generalization (4+ / 0-)

to be an affront. Note that I have taken care of myself for 34+ years and have NO diabetic complications.

However, you continue to hold that I could (apparently) have prevented my disease, which has a known genetic component.

Let me remind you that even when we do know more than we know now, and can point to triggers, back in 1978,  when I was diagnosed, little was known about even controlling the complications of the disease.

my understanding is that Type I and Type II are dramatically different and that Type I is more genetic and not really related to diet except as to a genetic susceptibility to what would otherwise have been an nonproblematic diet.
