At least not in that file, or this whole issue I'd think.  it's not like Republicans don't favor the abuse of the tax code overtly and without fear, so its not really an issue of Bain's tax shelters.

At its route, Romney's investment's are in Bain funds which can and will hide behind "confidential and proprietary" so we'll never know exactly what those fund hold.  But considering Bain's portfolio of companies a smarter man/woman could probably decipher it.

I still think it's all a non-issue.  Plus he has significant portions invested with Goldman Sachs in trusts and a bunch of FHLB accoutns (I'm guessing these are CD's or short term bonds/t-bills) that aren't really in play.

I don't think pointing out he's a retired multi-millionaire who doesn't pay a high tax rate is something entirely unknown.  Then again I don't think there's all that much pride in paying higher taxes like some constituencies seem to believe.

The fact is, he's paying lower tax rates than the average middle class person, which strikes a lot of people as wrong and unfair. And rather than being a person who is taking advantage of this while advocating for a change, he's trying to keep it the same, if not make it worse.

As far as pride goes, I don't know if that's the exactly way I'd describe it. There's something to it, but leave feelings of justice out of it and focus purely on the fact that he's benefitting greatly from living in this country and, despite being part of the segment of society that has seen all of the gains in recent decades, thinks he should pay even less to be a citizen here. It's as if he's walking into a fine restaurant and pissing and moaning just to get free shit every single time he's there rather than ordering what he wants and can afford, based on how much they charge, and leave it at that.

to be paying taxes, however small, to a country other than the good old US of A.
