to the republicans. 2008 was a massive Dem wave and most of those seats were republican held for ages prior to the dem wave years of 06 and 08.

52.8% is a seat a Democrat can win but one that a republican likely will win in New York.

    •  Hochul won the most Republican district in NY (6+ / 0-)

I think she has the chops to hold onto a 52.8% O district.

      •  It would certainly be an improved (6+ / 0-)

district for her. No doubt about that. She shouldn't have been able to win NY-26. It shows just how bad the Republican brand is in NY these days.

My point is simply that a lot of areas voted heavily for Obama in a manner they do not vote for Democrats at other levels of government. The same is seen for statewide offices. Schumer and Clinton and Cuomo, etc running statewide perform vastly better than Democrats running in state districts do. The drop-off is significant hence my point that 52.8% is a likely R district. Lean R is probably a better way to put it. A strong Dem can win it as we have shown in every single upstate district now (with Hochul's win in 26 knocking off the last of them).
