We don't have to actually BE violent... We just have to make it crystal clear that if they don't start being reasonable, then we will have no choice.

This is a game of bluster. We need to call their bluff, and make it clear that this game will be played by our rules, not theirs.

    •  We are already making that clear (6+ / 0-)

By occupying, by staying peaceful, but refusing to be cowed or be silent. Threats of violence will gain us nothing. Also, my father always taught me "never point a gun at anyone unless you are prepared to pull the trigger". They have more access to weapons than we could hope to have, it would be like aiming a .22 at a tank and thinking that threat was realistic. There are better ways to win than even implying we will become violent.

Stay deluded, and 20 years from now, you can explain to your children why they'll have the opportunities in life that grandma and grandpa had.

ps... If the protests of the 60s were so successful, then why are we having the same fights barely a generation later?

Clearly, the tyrants learned nothing, except to be patient.

doesn't work? Especially when the vast majority of people don't agree with you or support you.

This is a game of public relations, ultimately, not force. Whoever has the public on their side wins, and overcoming the advantages of the !%'s ownership of media will be hard enough without people on our side playing the role of thugs that the 1% want to cast us in. The weathermen and the Black Panthers scared America just enough to get Reagan elected....let's not repeat that mistake.
