  •  I've never been under the impression that I, as a (8+ / 0-)

sole voter, ever had any actual influence.

However, I have been living under the impression that my blind obedience to a Party was nonsense, and thus my months long refusal to kowtow and join the maddening crowd seeing no wrongs on the part of the President.

I still loathe some of his actions, the recent signing statement on the 2012 NDAA in particular...

but I can no longer sit on the fence, wrapped in my blanket of principles, not with the coming deluge of Citizens United money that the Right and their 1% will be bringing, come summer.

It's time to make a choice, take a stand, and publicly announce it, at least, that's how I see it.

The opposition is so bad this time 'round, there simply is no other choice.

    •  You're right, you shouldn't (0+ / 0-)

wrap yourself in a blanket of principles.

You should wrap yourself in a blanket of rational observation and a brutally pragmatic approach to how to advance your own agenda/ideology.

Unless you have money, your only influence is votes.  Your own, or whatever group of votes you can deliver come election day.

If you have no money, and you pledge undying support, what is left for the candidate to need to pursue you for?  He can do anything he wants at this point, short of becoming 100% the same as his opposition, and not worry about losing your support.

You are taking an extremely short-sighted, non-pragmatic approach to advancing your own ideology/positions.

Chiefs of Staff: Rahm Emmanuel, Bill Daley, Jack Lew. Whose side do you think he's on?
