  •  There is a lot of stuff he didn't mention (0+ / 0-)

in his statement hat doesn't mean he's hiding it or avoiding it.  That's just illogical.  There's alot of stuff anti-SOPA advocates leave out in their statements also.  Did Google mention in their statement that they profit from these illegal sites?

to "set the record straight" on SOPA and never even address DNS blocking and removal of links is pretty amazing.

It's obviously intentional - because SOPA advocates realized these provisions would be massively unpopular if people found out about them. And they are.

      •  Smith has mentioned almost all the main (0+ / 0-)

provisions in the bill, including DNS blocking.  It's been about a week since he said he would remove it.  Maybe you just missed it.

acknowledged the existence of DNS blocking is the announcement that it would be removed from the bill, it sort of proves my point.

Furthermore, if DNS blocking was so problematic, why did he insist on keeping it in his bill for so long, and only remove the provision after huge grassroots pressure from the tech community?

Bills are amended many times before it becomes a law.  The bill has been online for months now there was nothing being hidden in it.  Almost all articles mentioned it.  Experts were to testify before committees about the DNS portions.
