    and had asked it later, Newt would have had the same rehearsed response ready.  He just would have changed the part about "starting the debate" with it.

    and if he had not asked the question at all, Newt would have complained about not getting an opportunity to rebut the "scurrilous allegations" before the national audience.

    Believe me, Newt had planned to turn this to his advantage now matter what had happened.

      And no voter swing if King hadn't asked the question.  Asking it later in the debate would have produced the same results that Newt got - a win in S.C.
