  •  Hospice can be a sanity (8+ / 0-)

saver.  My mother has been fading away for the past year, and not in a graceful way.  I had asked about hospice once and was told she wasn't a candidate.  A couple of months later, the caregivers at the nursing home suggested I consider hospice, and that time her doctor agreed that it was appropriate.  The next day we signed the papers and it was like my life started over - they are wonderful and always there.  The nurse is far more proactive than any doctors or staff at the nursing home.  She is a real problem solver, from minor issues to major ones.  Thank heaven for hospice.
