    Compare the salaries of active duty military to that of private contractors (Blackwater/XE/whatever they're called now) doing same jobs (only less well). There isn't really a good comparison for soldiers in the private sector...at least not the legal private sector...but the comparison to mercenary soldiers would certainly indicate that service members are paid a pittance compared to "the private sector"..

      It gets back to my point 2) B) Economics.

      I'd like to find a way to take the profit motive out of war. Soldiers, not corporations, should be the ones that go to war.
