As I stated, most people are going to find that offensive. The media will also use it to point the protests as "radical" (which is what they want to do). The backbone of the progressive movement is the Labor/Union members. They do lots of the footwork. The America "they love" is the America that we want. Its the place that the President has been talking about over the past year.

Think about Seattle, we had Union guys marching with Hardcore Environmentalists. Occupy is about bringing people together, not highlighting differences. I think the message that those with the distressed flag are try to make can be made in many other ways. I think that at least some of them are probably doing it for the shock value.

In many areas, including my area of the Country (Northern Midwest, where the progressive movement started) we need as many people as possible to stand with us. We know that Conservatives like to divide. Yet, try to suggest that we have no class system. Class is the single most uniting factor in the United States today and upside flags divide just like crosses do.

Lots of my political action takes place with UAW (I drive a car built 15 minutes away), IBEW and AFSCME workers. They would not sit down at a bar and have a conversation with a person flying an upside flag. Plain and Simple. These are the same guys that cheer through the entire national anthem at Blackhawks games.

I am not trying to tell anyone what to do, go ahead and do what you want. Its just my opinion.
