sounds a bit like an MS symptom from what little tiny bit I know about it.

The reference is basically saying "I'm seeing lesions that are very characteristic of MS." Presumably it was a combined with/without contrast, with two sets of pictures. When MS is "active" (aka the "relapse" portion of relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) or an "exacerbation"), it shows up as a bright area on a MRI done with gadolinium contrast.

MS treatments basically fall into two categories - steroids to address some symptoms of an exacerbation (but not actually prevent damage) and assorted expensive options (interferons, glatrimer acetate/Copaxone, Tysabri and Gilenya) taken on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to attempt to prevent attacks (but not to address symptoms at all). The expensive options are shots, infusions or a pill that's only been around for a year or so, and I'd be surprised if any of them were less than $3000/month though all of the companies provide significant cost support to uninsured patients.

      You'll see a lot of radiologist double-speak!

I'd rather be called a dirty fucking hippy for reading books then to stand on the side that throws books in the garbage. - MinistryofTruth
