    The English Church was always more independent from Rome than any other. Even before the split. And we're not "Protestants".

        and that even before the split with Rome the church was highly independent, and even developed its own Rite and Chant Book. Called the "Sarum Rite" it was tolerated by popes when other churches had their variants suppressed.

        The English Church was independent, practically speaking, even before Henry came to the throne. His daughter freaked it up for a while, but we have come back to a far more Catholic practice nowadays that Henry might even recognize.
