Five codons out of how many?  I'm not saying it was a good or bad thing, but the assertion that it was "just five genes" begs the question of how many balls were in the bag, probabalistically -- its like saying I just adjusted five screws on your car and it runs now.  Great!  I'm sure the repair would have come about in the fullness of time...

Though realistically think it doesn't matter -- the work will be done one way or the other.

...j'ai découvert que tout le malheur des hommes vient d'une seule chose, qui est de ne savoir pas demeurer en repos dans une chambre.

... or another.  So given the inevitability of death, shouldn't we all just get it over and commit suicide?

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

      •  Wow good idea...lol. No need to publish because (0+ / 0-)

just knowing something is possible means others will find the how to themselves. Look at electronics... some software barely gets on the market and there are those who have figured it out.  I may take your advice... I frequently contemplate moving on.

It is scary to have someone publish this info but it also leads to those who are studying the field  being able to find counteractions.. It is the stuff that blindsides us without warnings that are the hardest to overcome.

But then they are invoking the terrorist theme that panders to fear and the desire for the impossible perfect security. We keep looking in all the wrong places fo rthe biggest dangers while ignoring the more detrimental dangers that are slowly transforming us and our world into a blind corner. And those who don't get science cannot trust those who do because some have used science in ways that have harmed many... especially militaristically.

Interesting diary. Very thought provoking. Love you G2geek but I like the thrust of this diary. Manmade or humongus population pool to breed new variants in we face a large problem with viruses.
