I recall hearing the warnings, as well as an after-disaster news report that credited advance weather warnings and tornado sirens for saving lives.

As a retired emergency management specialist, I know how important it is to get disaster reports correct. A news report like this, denying the contributions of disaster professionals, hurts their morale, and often that's all that keeps them going (besides cold coffee and donuts) for the long, long hours that are required during disasters.  It also creates needless anxiety for citizens who hear the erroneous report because they are left thinking that they will not get a warning when the next tornado strikes.

In the public interest, ABC News needs to issue a public apology and repeat it so that everyone who heard the false report gets the correct one.
