    In my opinion, they gave the most interesting parts of the story too scant an attention.  (Spoiler alert:) I can't really forgive the movie for how it sets up this big ethical/political/financial/legal dilemma and then resolving it with "we'll figure it out later".  

    Also, I'm a bit sick of George Clooney movies that open with narration where he explains his character's motivations.  See also "Up in the Air".  

    However, I do think there were interesting things in the story, and that it was pretty well-acted, especially the welcome cameos by Robert Forster and Beau Bridges, even if I think Clooney is starting to become a repetitive actor.  I wish the cinematography was more interesting and that it spent a bit less time on the caper/road trip storylines and a bit more on the extended family and the implications for Hawaii.  I did like the depiction of Hawaii society--the extant consequences of its history, the small and chummy elite, the ethnic diversity, the Punahou references.
