    The banks don't get immunity from criminal charges, and they don't get immunity from civil liability for anything except the robo-signing stuff.
    So the deal essentially takes the low hanging fruit ("robo-signing stuff") off the table.  Why?  Why do they get immunity from any wrongdoing?  No person or people in this country ever get such a benefit unless they're in the 1%.

    Imagine this happening to a person instead; someone murders someone else and speeds away but the judge says that a prosecution for the easily-provable murder is off the table, but you can still go after the murderer for speeding.  That decision would make sense to absolutely no one and this "deal" still makes absolutely no sense to me.
