  •  Why do I feel some master plan is in effect here? (3+ / 0-)

That some new candidate will be ushered in (like Jeb) at the convention, Repubs will go nuts for him, and there will be little time to see him fizzle out like all the rest?  Am I paranoid?  Crazy?  Both?

    •  haha. i was literally about to post the same thing (0+ / 0-)

I think this could happen..  I think the Republicans know deep inside they have no chance of beating Obama.  Their best chance comes in 2016 when Obama's term ends and they can run a more seasoned Paul Ryan, Rubio. Chris Christie, or Scott Brown (if he is able to defeat Warren). Say what you want about any of those. but clearly all 3 have a better appeal and political future than Mitt or Newt,

BUT... I think the Republicans only do this to minimize losses in the Congressional election. The trick is funding someone who will "take it for the team " and lose to Obama.  Jeb is a good idea and maybe at the least they can start to  build rapport with the Latino voter.

      •  As some pundits have said, the Republicans are (0+ / 0-)

terrified of Newt winning the nomination because that could lead to a landslide and big Congressional losses.

So.. if Newt is in the driver's seat.. could see a Republican leaking" this to force the convention to pick a new candidate.
