since I got here in 2003. It's all around, including the Democratic Party, local media, and the general culture. (Not that there's not still a lot of stupidity and ignorance still in abundance.) It's not really found on the pages of The Oklahoman though, despite the hopeful anomaly I've offered here. I'll give you that.

Oklahoma: birthplace of Kate Barnard, Woody Guthrie, Will Rogers and Bill Moyers. Land of proud progressive agitators since before statehood (1907). Current political climate a mere passing dust cloud; we're waiting it out and planning for clearer days.

It seems sometimes as though there are two steps backward for every forward one. I'm not sure we'll really get moving forward again until we can counteract the influence of the fundie churches - the ones with Bob Jones grads and Jerry Falwell wannabes for preachers. They're EVERYWHERE!

On a side note re your sig - don't forget Elizabeth Warren..

Though I had to do some creative abbreviation to fit in "less than 255 characters."

Not 255, mind you: LESS than 255.
