My question is, what's up with the damn Democrats in Alaska? Don't they want to take this seat?

or, they think he's impossible to beat.
or, they can't come up with a candidate with any charisma, ideas and talent.
or, if there is anybody like that they don't wish to run against a 40 year incumbent.

they have had years to foster a candidate. Instead, they look at this every two years and shrug their shoulders. Sometimes winning a seat means looking at the longterm. Building the party from the ground up in some basic ways - it's not impossible to do in Alaska, just hard.

I am a registered Independent partly because I have little patience for the party in the state. I no longer live there, but if I did, I am not sure if I would spend time party building or Independent building. I have a feeling a candidate like a Bernie Sanders could do really well here without the name of a party behind him. Vermont and Alaska have a lot of similarities.
