    And, please let me tell you about "George H. W. Bush", and "Chester A. Arthur" and "Theodore Roosevelt" and "Calvin Coolidge" and -- anomaly coming: "Earl Warren" -- then "Richard Nixon", then "next-in-line" Vice President candidates, "Bob Dole," "George H. W. Bush" ... the pattern is well established, though to be sure not determinative.  But, it's a pretty well established tradition that the V.P. in a losing, "next-in-line," mid-term Presidential cycle, the Republican Party puts their Next Great White Hope in the V.P. slot so's to signal who they should be lining up behind for the coming four years.

    It's all they got, the poor dears.
