That's what they want for your kids.

    •  I read an article in the Economist this morning (5+ / 0-)

about a survey of American business Sooper Geeniuses (I think Harvard B School grads were surveyed) and they overwhelmingly were pessimistic about the prospects of the US and thought Brazil, China and...India (?) were all going to surpass us economically soon....the worst part of all though was that given a choice, they'd offshore jobs to avoid US taxes and wages and regulations.  We are in competition for our very lives...the world oligarchs very much want to cut the communication channels that might get the world 99 percenters connected to overthrow the power that the tiny top percenters hold. No wonder the internet is under such attack from bills like SOPA and PIPA...they want us all working like the Foxconn serfs.

Our business overlords want a return to the middle ages where the very few held all the wealth and the masses were in poverty. Who needs a strong middle class now that they've hijacked the wealth already?

does not refer to a literal percentage, it's a short and sweet stand in for those who control the decision making process in the economy. The 1% would include the most powerful in every country who work hand in hand multinational companies to put the wants of corporations ahead of the good of those companies, along with the upper management of the largest corporations.

The average person making $50K is not part of the 1%, they don't have the kind of power to effect the economy in significant ways. Heck Tim Tebow, making making millions isn't part of the 1%, because it's not about $$$ it's about those who have power and are using it to corrupt the system.

Our only chance is for the overseas labor markets to unionize. Which i understand would involve violence and lives lost. Cant blame them if they dont want to fight that battle

One great big festering neon distraction, I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.
