take a look at the exit polls. certain demographics turned out and certain demographics didn't. it's also worth considering that maybe the unemployed, the under-employed, and those losing their homes didn't need bloggers to explain to them that they were unemployed, under-employed, and losing their homes.

the reality is that many of us were saying in 2009 that if we didn't at least fight for a second stimulus we would get pummeled in 2010. and we were much criticized for it. sorry for having been right.

What do you say to the commenter who thinks that it is "up to Obama to get himself re-elected?".

Words have meaning and your words will reflect what is in your soul.

      •  It is up to Obama (0+ / 0-)

to not perpetuate, champion and expand the most odious policies of the Bush administration placing people in the dilemma of rewarding these actions with a vote, or refusing to, and thus enabling the overt enemies of freedom to triumph over the covert enemies of freedom.

If Obama wanted my vote he should not have signed laws making it legal to imprison American citizens without trial indefinitely, should not have granted amnesty to to telcos for illegal wiretapping, should not be pushing the secret ACTA treaty (which some reports claim Obama has already signed).

        Nor should he have:

        - Stood silent while Bradley Manning was abused.

        - Declared it legal to kill any American citizen anywhere by presidential fiat.

        - Allowed the continued detention of a Guantanamo prisoner arrested at FOURTEEN years of age to continue, never mind kow-towed to demands the prison be kept open.

        - Pursued an asinine policy of "bi-partisanship" (appeasement) with the GOP for his first two years in office, allowing the GOP to stop practically all progress on important issues for the first two years of his presidency.

        - Appointed Wall Street cronies to deal with economic issues (See Timothy Geitner)

        - Refused to support gay marriage.

        - Defended DOMA.

These actions (and many others) have made it impossible for me to vote for the man, especially as he has actively scorned people such as myself (though he now seems to be singing a different tune in the advance of the elections, but hey, "fool me once...")

You certainly can make the "lesser of two evils" argument, but ultimately, we are still voting for evil, and this I will not do. And no, I do NOT require "ideological  purity" in a candidate, just an honest attempt to "do the right thing". Once Obama got to DC, he moved decidedly to the Right, and shunned (and ridiculed via his surrogates) his liberal base.

America is now a de facto police state, and Obama pretty much not only refused to roll back BushCo's abuses, he also refused to prosecute them, then greatly expanded them.

Obama has refused to prosecute war crimes, thus endorsing them by this refusal. He has refused to prosecute financial criminals, thus endorsing and encouraging them with this refusal.

The American democratic experiment is dead, murdered by collaborators selling themselves as "pragmatists", and self-delusion justified as "compromise".

        The American Imperial Oligarchy looms.

If there is anyone in the universe keeping score, if there is ever any historian who will live to tell the truth about these days, at least my fingerprints (and those of people like me) will not be found on the murder weapon.

Our choice in 2012 is to be sold into slavery immediately by the GOP and corporate America, or sold into slavery gradually by the Democrats and corporate America.

The end result has chains regardless of choice.
