  •  Before we get all giddy, we should note that this (22+ / 0-)

sudden about face by Obama comes on the heels of the 60 Minutes report linked above, which broadcast 6 weeks prior to Obama's "populist conversion."

Holder, the guy who facilitated Clinton's pardon of the execrable Marc Rich, is still in the DoJ driver's seat, a perch where he's been most effective at deflecting calls for the prosecution of a myriad of high-ranking suspects with boatloads of publicly available damning evidence against them, both gov't and corporate.  Keep in mind, after all, that he's the source of Obama's claims (as recently as about 6 months ago) that "there were no crimes, what a shame."

I'll believe things have changed (other than the significant change of a mainstream media outlet picking up the OWS gauntlet) when I see high-profile perps walking in front of klieg lights.

    •  "Trust, But Verify" That The Perps Will Go to Jail (14+ / 0-)

As much as I would like to see the banksters responsible for causing such massive suffering to so many Americans get convicted and sent to (non-Club Med) jails, after paying massive restitution to those injured by their frauds, I fear this new federal investigating Commission could be a pre-election sham.

Matt Stoller, in a current Naked Capitalism post, analysizes the nature of the resources the new group will have, as compared to the staffing for the 1980's Savings & Loan scams.  It throws a good deal of cold water on my initial optimism:

      Link.

Convict Bush, Cheney and their torture cabal. Support universal health care, unions, WikiLeaks and Occupy Wall Street! Time for a totally new, democratic economic system. Turn the corporations into worker cooperatives!
