  •  OTOH there are reports that Turkey will fund Hamas (1+ / 0-)

    Haaretz reports today that

Turkey may provide Hamas with $300 million in annual aid, Turkish sources report. The aid would take place of Iranian funding, which has been significantly reduced.

This is interesting, since Turkey is a member NATO, and Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization by the EU and the US.
The rift between turkey and the west seems to be widening (the latest fight with France just illustrates this).

      Friendlystranger, poco

'Turkish sources' are a group called the International Middle East Media Center. This organiation made the claim.

No other media in Turkey has made or supported the claim as far as I have been able to see.

When Haniyya was here about a month ago the media reported the meetings between him and Turkish government officials as being about getting Hamas and the Palestinian National Authority to work together and getting Hamas to give up using arms.

Lamb chop, we can quibble what to call it, but I think we can both agree it's creepy.
