  •  Gentle Giant, I couldn't agree with you more... (7+ / 0-)

    Especially when you say:

We on the Left are partly to blame for not putting out the little fires, fighting back against the Right's progress, as they vilified us with little or no blowback from us. "Liberal" is only just now regaining its former legitimacy as a word free of negative inference after having been sneered from the mouths of radical right pundits and made into a four-letter-word since the neocon revolution of the early 80s.

I totally, totally agree with you.  We need to fight back and we need to be SEEN as fighting back.  That's why I ask the question in the diary I mention above:  is there a centralized legal fund (or can one be set up,) so we can carry this fight into the courts and the halls of Congress with lawyers, if we need to?

If we had lawyers representing these protestors whose civil rights have been abused and bringing up suits against these stalinist police departments and their 1% puppet mayors, then we would let them know that we were not going to put up with another theft of our rights.

What brave people the protestors are!  We owe them a LOT, and we must do our part to protect them to.  Financially supporting their legal representation is something I would do in a heartbeat, if the mechanism was set up to make this possible.  And I believe I would not be alone.

I belong to the “US” of America, not the “ME,$,ME,$,ME,$,ME,$” of America!
