Especially with the knowledge that their followers will be resistant to facts?

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

The fact that it's a tell of their strategy means that you don't fight the sucker punch, you prepare to come down like a ton of bricks on the corruption.

The way to deal with the sucker punch is after a practical victory  on the corruption, you outline in detail over several issues the sucker punch tactic for all to see.

It rests on the "everybody's doing it" excuse.  That alleging that Democrats are doing something exonerates them of corruption.

Occupy Wall Street's strategy (mission) of articulating all of the corrupt links between Wall Street and K Street begins to deal with the "both sides do it" by smoking out exactly who on both sides do and and how it is done.  The Republican Party right now exists for nothing else but preserving the Wall Street-K Street-Congress axis of corruption and its state or local counterparts.  There are a Democrats who seek wider goals that serve the public but must play the game.  And there are Democrats (too few of them) who try as much as possible to avoid the game.

Fact is that some cities are notorious for voter suppression and election fraud regardless of which party holds power at the moment.  And there are places where old Democratic machines have been at it for decades.  And places where Dixiecrats turned Republicans have just taken over the old system.  And places that Republicans have held control through chicanery.

That's why it takes a plethora of local Occupy movements to sort out all of the tentacles of corruption.
