    if Newt starts saying yes we can, are you going to associate the slogan with him in spite of Obama 2008?

      if Newt and his followers had been using it for years (and using it far more than the President), the association would shift.  As it has with this.

      I am not religious, and did NOT say I enjoyed sects.

        Glenn Beck and his followers claim that he gave an I Have A Dream speech on the Mall.

        it does not matter whether MLK did it 50 years ago or not, the phrase will never be associated with Beck so long as people insist on holding the original meaning in their hearts

        an association only shifts if we let it, and as an unrepentant Deaniac I will strongly resist any shift.  Republicons are always trying to co-opt our stuff to their own purposes, and I refuse to make it easier for them by ceding the point.
