      you know about it, I assume everything worked out okay? If not, what happened?

      The situations in this diary are not about breaking the law, they are about breaking rules at a school. Pulling a knife on a classmate is breaking the law. Calling the cops would have made sense to me in that instance.

      Was the incident unique or does it happen all the time at his school? What level of discipline would you like maintained at your friend's kid's high school? If you want the police brought in on a more permanent basis, what level of discipline should they be involved with? Just law breaking or rule breaking as well?

      •  The kid got suspended for a couple of weeks and (0+ / 0-)

        sent to a special school for a couple of months. He's fine now, it's been a couple of years ago. It's a pretty good suburban school, no real violence there. I don't advocate for cops to deal with rule breaking but it very rarely happens. The cases listed in the diary are rare and extreme.
