You are a very good writer, and the message of the diary came through loud and clear.  (shouldn't it be loudly and clearly?)

Working class affinity for Republicans is a mass Stockholm syndrome, conceived by Nixon, perfected by Reagan and (we can hope) beaten to death by Rove and the Kochs.  Krugman's Conscience of a Liberal comes out convincingly for race as the central factor and it's hard to argue that Nixon's Law 'n Order, Reagan's Philadelphia, MS, welfare queens young bucks and HW Bush's Willie Horton were variations on the racial theme.  Now illegal immigrants and gays have been added to the mix, but it's still just barely subtler versions of the "Two minutes hate."

The GOP: "You can always go to the Emergency Room."
