I'll be sending out a round of fundraising emails for my little local breast cancer group tomorrow!

For example, my community has a world-class university teaching hospital. Many great physicians have worked there. There are usually foundations set up in their name both during their lives and certainly after their passing.

That money stays local and serves local patients.

For example,  from a fund honoring a certain oncologist, any woman being treated for any condition can receive a free wig. Although the program is aimed at cancer patients, any woman can get a wig for any condition if they are being treated by the hospital or affiliated clinic. I lost a lot of my hair to SLE and could have obtained one, even went for a fitting.

The fund also provides medical services financial support for those in need. PP still does the screenings.

There are many options for our money.

Besides, I'm ticked that SGK coopted pink. It's my color. Perhaps I should charge them royalties.
