  •  Damage control is doable when there IS a defense (9+ / 0-)

However, when the decision itself is indefensible, I don't know what "getting out in front" could have done to stop the backlash.

This was not at all a communications problem.

    •  Oddly, there is a PR way SGK could rescue (0+ / 0-)

      themselves from this debacle.

I remain surprised that with all the high priced consultants and PR folks working at SGK, no one, no one, has figured this one out.

Their mistake was to react with anger, to go on the attack, to be defensive, once they realized how much blow back there was.  But arrogance is what got them into this, and it remains SGK's killing Achilles Heel.

Their cue is from the gracious and open response of Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards (granted, it is easier to be gracious when you win, but that's why losers hire PR shills), which remains focused on women's health, on women's lives.

Like most rightwing conservative radical groups, the grownups have left the room, and it's the super-self-absorbed uber-entitled teenagers left to run the show.
