versus, say late August, 2005, is that blogging, tweeting and friend-ing have all become mainstream ~ people now all get there information almost in real time.  When Katrina hit, I remember being on the computer on Saturday afternoon and reading about the storm from DarkSyde.  but it did not hit the news until maybe 36 hours later.  When shit was going to hell I was reading about it but everyone in my office still had to go home and watch the news and catch up it was 24 hours at the quickest.

Now however, everyone is blogging, on facebook, tweeting in realtime responding in real time, from a mainstream point of reference, not just a lonely outpost anymore.  And its kind of nice.
