England.  At another time, the Thames froze regularly.

This is what deniers use to claim climate change is not caused by man.

You do not do any good with them by jumping up and down saying "Yes it is!  Yes it is!  Look how bad it is!"

That just makes them dig in more.

What I use with these bozos ( and there are a lot in my area) is say, "You know what, you may be right, it may not all be due to human activities, but we know just through basic science that human activities make it worse.  If you know a flood is coming through entirely natural causes, you don't turn on the hose in your back yard and you don't knock down the berm separating you from the river."

And I usually get nods.  Most people recognize common sense.

And all it is is a subtle shift from it being all people's fault, to being human tools to combat climate change, whatever the cause.

Hopefully there aren't many deniers here, and I'm not jumping up and down at the moment...

Seems to me that a pretty low bar is even getting people who aren't deniers (over half the U.S. population) to care enough about it that it isn't their tenth priority, and that's my hope---to provide a reminder that what we're seeing happening around is indeed what was forecasted and we better get moving. - thoughts on energy, the environment, and society.

are worth doing for other reasons. Energy independence gives us security. Energy efficiency lowers oil prices, extends the useful lifetime of an oil economy, saves us money, and keeps money in our pockets and out of the hands of dictators. Energy efficiency lessens air pollution. New renewable energy technology gives us new high-value industry and exports. Energy efficient buildings are more comfortable. The hits just keep coming.

Fry, don't be a hero! It's not covered by our health plan!
