  •  Libertarians are against government intrusion, (9+ / 0-)

except in cases where they want government intrusion.

...(and I usually disagree with Libertarians views on govt. non-intrusiveness like for drugs, e.g.) you're stating the neocon's view which is everything's good except what I want illegal, a hopelessly dishonest political philosophy.

However, what you say seems to be the case here. I think he's just pandering for a few % more votes among non-standard Libertarians, people who might be otherwise attracted to the most unattractive R presidential candidates in at least 4 years.

      •  I've never met a TRUE Libertarian then. (0+ / 0-)

All the ones I've run into in my 62 years all have areas where they want the government to intrude into other people's affairs.

A TRUE libertarian state wouldn't be a nice place at all. It would look a lot like HBO's version of Deadwood--but instead of Ian McShane's Swearingen, we'd have Ron Paul.  And even that Deadwood had a sheriff--and a fire department (volunteer).

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
