    ...piece of filmmaking and Mr Eastwood's delivery is superb as usual, but I found it rather sad myself -- although if it helps President Obama to victory, so much the better.

    First, "halftime" in or for America means nothing. One of the teams will lose, no matter how hard they try. We might be in "halftime", but we're also a sliding down slope that will lead to nothing but a world of hurt and the end of our empire.

    Second, the ideals chosen by the filmmakers to represent America are from an idealized 1950s or 1960s version that never existed anyway. Is that our halftime strategy: go back to the past? Are we like Russians pining for our Stalinist glory?

    People may have ridiculed Newt for his off the cuff remark about a moonbase, but if America is going to return as a leader on this planet, it's by chasing after the future (be it space, nanotech, genetics, new energies, etc), not the past.

    Say humbug if you will, but I found that ad very sad and rather hopeless.
