  •  Well (4+ / 0-)

the men surveyed could have represented better. It's discouraging that birth control is "women's business" to so many.

    •  99% Really? (0+ / 0-)

Joan when you wrote, "99 percent of American women are using it" did you mean the pill or did you mean all forms of birth control including russian roulette, err, the rhythm method and pulling out? Did you really mean "are using" or "have used at some point in their life"?

I've slept with somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 women (hate that I have to give numbers, but work with me). Of that number, 4 were taking the pill when I first slept with them. Another 4 started taking the pill at some point in time while we were dating (including my wife who stopped before we had kids). At least six were neither on the pill and refused to let me wear a condom, and of that latter group at least half forewent the condom at some point. I grew up in suburban D.C., so it's not like I was living in a backwater where access is, or was, and issue.

Your numbers just don't ring true.

      •  As I said in the post (5+ / 0-)

"birth control" of any kind. That does not mean the pill.

That's Guttmacher's survey results, one of the most respected institutions for women's health research. I should have made clearer in the post "have used" birth control, maybe not "currently using." But nearly all sexually active women have used or are using birth control.

Of course, I can't speak to who chooses to sleep with you.
