I've realized, through the comments, that it is important to put a face, so to speak, to the issue. my mother was not a 'mythical' woman harmed by the lack of health care, she was a living, breathing woman who had a life and potential ahead of her drastically cut short.

It does scare me to think of the giant steps back the Republicans want to take, especially when I think of the pain and suffering so many people, men and women, went through before better medicines and medical practices were found. i would be so happy if another woman did not have to die like my mother did, but i have a feeling that the fight is going to be very long to achieve that goal.

just mentioned, states are being strangled as well by cutoffs of funding. I'm sure Republicans want to go the route of private, for-profit everything - which would mean death and suffering to millions more women. Plus that would leak into everyone's lives including children. Greed is such an ugly thing. That an adult human being could do this to a woman and/or a child is just chilling.

Yes your mom had a face, a name, a life and family who loved her dearly. I'm so very sorry she is gone but I'm sure she is so proud of you for telling her story.
