We're a nation that believes that some guy on TV named George Washington wouldn't lie about chopping down a cherry tree so he got rid of the evil English who are now our best friends and then helped Eisenhower, Robert Mitchum, and John Wayne defeat the Nazis, thus justifying us as a global policeman and getting into every war.

So, that secular story is somehow better than the angel moroni? Hmph.

You ascribe to me beliefs I don't have and then set up a false either/or. Joseph Smith was a fraud who made up a religion and then fucked little girls while driving away other men.

If it's bullshit, I call it bullshit.

    •  Yeah, that's like saying if a guy's running a con (0+ / 0-)

and calling it a religion, should we challenge it?

Yeah, we should. Maybe not legally, at least not until the statutory rape or the out-right defrauding people of their money starts, but a con by any other name is still a con.

Romney - his fingernails have never been anything but manicured.

    •  What (0+ / 0-)

      You're quotation is self-refuting.

You quote me saying "We're a nation" and then claim I ascribed that belief to you. Obviously, anyone not intentionally being deliberately disingenuous knows what that meant.

What is the false "either or"? (false dilemma is the term you're looking for).

So, now that you've thrown you're butthurt dweller defensive mud at me, can you answer the point of my comment which is:

So what if Joseph Smith was a fraud? Does that change the Mormon experience? That kind of thinking is like saying the Palestinians are an invented people. All peoples are invented!

So, are you saying you're so much better that you can decide who's right and wrong? Not doing so is the point of religious freedom and toleration.

The problem with Mormons isn't their beliefs, it's when they act against religious freedom and toleration. Don't destroy toleration in a silly attempt to preserve it.
