  •  Maybe if they fire the entire board... (14+ / 0-)

Here's my list of conditions to donate to Komen again:

    1) The expulsion of every single executive and board member.

    2) Complete unwavering support for abortion rights and birth control access. Any mention of "religious discrimination" will not be tolerated.

    3) Not a single replacement executive or board member to be paid more than a 5 figure salary. They're in this for the work, not the money.

    4) A drastic reduction of waste overhead, with the savings given to PP and real cancer research.

However, we know that these executives put their own ego and greed over what's best for all. They won't quit and won't vote eachother out. Therefore, there is no other choice than to let Komen die.

    •  How about an end to putting their logo on products (0+ / 0-)

      that contain known carcinogens?

How about an end to putting their logo on stuff, period? Shopping isn't going to bring us a cure. It's only going to help corporations sell more crap.

How about donating a greater percentage of the funds they raise to research--and not just of new treatments but of environmental causes of breast cancer and of metastatic cancer, the kind most likely to kill, rather than focusing on cheery pink-outfitted survivors and "awareness" celebrations?

Komen doesn't have to get my trust "back." They never had it. They have to earn it. And getting rid of a bunch of right-wing executives, as nice as it would be, would be only a start.
